The Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference 2020-2021

The Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference, 2020-2021, organized by "Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art", in collaboration with Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, will discuss the future of museums in the future city.

Traditionally, the modern city constructed the museum as its mirroring mechanism, narrating its story visually, architecturally, and socially. Today, both the city and the museum have been radically transformed as a result of the pandemic.

The second workshop, part of this conference, will be held from 25 to 27 April 2021 at 8pm (Doha time), a continuation of the first workshop which was held in December 2020.

In this edition of the conference, we look at the implications of the current pandemic on the futures of museums and cities, with an open platform for a discussion and questions concerning the various potential scenarios in the foreseeable future.

We invite you to attend the different online sessions and to engage critically with the presentations of our guest speakers.

This workshop webinar will take place via Zoom.
